PIPE COLLARS & WRAPS - Passive Fire Protection Services

PIPE COLLARS & WRAPS

A key part of our Passive Fire Protection Services are pipe collars & wraps. These are always manufactured from a high performance material bonded to the inside of a steel sleeve, which on exposure to heat from a fire will rapidly expand inwards to squeeze the collapsing plastic pipe until the aperture is completely sealed.

This is extremely important for all fire stopping finishes, as it prevents fire from travelling through pipes in the building – and into other rooms.

We almost always employ this method of fire stopping in all of our remedial works and any new projects that we take onboard.

Cavity barriers - Passive Fire Protection Services

CAVITY BARRIERS

Cavity Barriers are very important pieces of fire stopping material. They are fitted within the cavity of a building at each floor horizontally and party wall in a vertical position. The material provides compartmentation. This means that both the flames and heat cannot be transferred to other compartmental areas.

Throughout the life of the building, the Cavity Barrier will remain fixed in place. In the event of a fire, the intumescent material expands and seals off the gaps. Additionally, the horizontal barriers allow for a ventilation gap within the cavity. This will be closed when the intumescent expands.

W Fire Passive Fire Protection makes sure that all cavity barriers are always installed properly!

Intumescent seals - Passive Fire Protection Services

INTUMESCENT SEALANTS

Most commonly found in acrylic, silicone and graphite form, these sealants provide an intumescent seal by adhering to most types of surface which form a non-hardening flexible seal. Intumescent sealants can be used to provide fire resistance to walls, floors, fire rated doors frames & glazing systems.

Linear gaps can be sealed in masonry walls to ensure that the passage of smoke, toxic gases and fire is suppressed for up to 2 hours.

Penetration sealing

PENETRATION SEALING

Fire barriers, or ‘Fire Batt’ as they may be known are used to provide fire and acoustic barriers for voids created by the passage of services in both dry wall systems and masonry walls and floors.

Types of penetrating services may include steel and copper pipes, PVC/HDPE/ABS cables often supported on ladders or trays or mechanical ducts. Most fire barriers are tested to provide the capability of up to 2 hours fire resistance and the same in heat insulation.

Intumescent putty pads

INTUMESCENT PUTTY PADS

Putty pads are a non-setting, silicone based product which is designed to reinstate the fire integrity of the wall when penetrated by an electrical backing box, eliminating the requirement for a baffle box. Putty Pads are Easy to install, Maintains the acoustic integrity and offer up to 2 hours resistance.

Fire Doors and Partitions - Passive Fire Protection Services

Successful passive fire protection is when the fire is contained to a particular area or room, giving any occupants enough time to escape and for the fire brigade enough time to enter the building and tackle the fire. Fire doors are specifically designed to prevent the fire or smoke from spreading, and therefore are one of the most important fire safety products that you have on your premises.

Unfortunately, fire doors are also usually being used in a functional way on a day-to-day basis, and they are at risk of damage and abuse, potentially compromising their ability to protect your building. Therefore, it’s essential to ensure regular inspections and repairs, preventing the need for replacement, and more importantly, ensuring your buildings remain safe, secure and compliant.

We can inspect, maintain, repair your existing fire doors and if required supply new doors.
